Bobcats Team Up with the Salvation Army to Spread Christmas Cheer
January 07, 2010

On a cold Thursday in December, a group of 23 Ohio University Alumni gathered at the Columbus Fair Grounds to help the less fortunate bring happiness to their homes.  The Salvation Army Christmas Cheer Program gives families the opportunity to shop for one Christmas present per child and provides several boxes of food for families in need.  The OU Volunteers helped pick out toys and box up packages of food to give to the families.  The time commitment was only 3 hours, but volunteering brought countless smiles and several tears to the faces of OU alum.

Stay tuned for more volunteer opportunities and come out and volunteer with us soon!

Message of THANKS from the Salvation Army
January 07, 2010

Dear Jamie,

On behalf of all of us at The Salvation Army, I want to thank you for coordinating the OU Young Alumni group to help with Christmas Cheer again this year.  I hope everyone enjoyed the evening.  We look forward to seeing your volunteers every year--they are always enthusiastic and fun.  This year we were able to provide food and toys to 6,939 families through Christmas Cheer, the most ever since we started the program.  We appreciate your help in making this happen and hope to see you again next December!

Thanks again and we wish you all the best for the New Year,

Jean
